OK, now it's time to put in the sublight engines...or rather, the lights that represent them.
We get two sets of assemblies for these. They go together the same. First off, start with the bottom piece as shown here:
Line up one of the light strips to go through the notches as shown (I should have shown, but the end going down off the bottom of the picture is the end with all the lights on it):
Put the top piece over the bottom piece so that the light assembly is held between them, like so:
Now, take 6 medium gold screws and tighten down the four screw holes on the corners, and the two in the middle, thus.
Center the light strip on the front of the assembly, keeping the first & last LEDs equidistant from their respective edges.
When you've got them in the right place, peel back the sticker backing, and stick the light strip along the inside, following the edge lines to keep it centered.
Now, follow the above steps with the second assembly.
Moving to the bottom chassis, put one assembly in the portside sublight place, lining it up on the four posts (it doesn't matter which one you use), and use 4 long gold screws to fasten it down.
Plug the lights in the port shown:
Now, add the starboard lights, and plug them in where shown:
Next, turn on the circuit board and hit the "B" button. You should get both strips lighting up. Note that some of the bulbs are out. Bit of a pain, but I guess they're cheapies (note, it's interesting they have us test the lights after we've attached them to the assembly and everything. Why not before? Don't ask me). Hopefully it will look all right when we add the rest. If not, I may bundle in some tissue paper to diffuse the lights somewhat.
Anyway, that's this bundle taken care of, and none too soon, because...
Yup, it's the last shipment. I though they'd do 89-96, and then the rest in February, but here it is all at once. I'll take you through the goodies when the time comes. But now I've got the whole kit, and just under a month before Planet ComicCon. Let's see if I can finish this sucker in time, shall we?
